Trumps Efforts of Rolling Back Climate Change

Trumps Efforts

As Trump's presidency unraveled, he rolled back many regulations towards making a cleaner future. These regulations involved coal mining, car emissions, stepping out of the Paris Agreement, and much more. Car emissions and coal mining are two of the biggest players involving climate change. Both of them bring harmful pollutants into the air which results in global warming and then leads to a rise in sea level. These do not only pose a threat to the environment, but also poses a threat to humans. Car emissions causes asthma, reduced lung capacity, and increased vulnerability to respiratory illnesses. Coal mining puts humans in danger. Coal mining can cause humans to have CWP, COPD, and also the actual miners can have silicosis. During his presidency, we experienced a major increase in forest fires like we've never ever seen before. This is due to the jet stream being shifted more north into Canada which provided a lot of moisture which prevented most of these fires. This shift was a result in pollution in the air such as car emissions. Another significant roll back was Trumps decision to exit the Paris Agreement. The Paris Agreement basically just provides an organized path to reaching a set goal of getting global warming down to 1.5°C. This really helped a lot with the efforts because all the countries involved in it really had motivation to pursuing the set plan. Without the U.S. being apart of it, we don't have to adobe by any set plan and the efforts do down the hatch. There was actual resistance in the U.S. itself against the exit of the Paris Agreement. Trump says that his duty for presidency is to serve Pittsburgh, not Paris. The mayor of Pittsburgh stated that him and the city of Pittsburgh will still oblige by the regulations of the Paris Agreement. Fortunately, the U.S. has reentered the Paris Agreement around almost a year ago. Trump definitely tried to stop a lot of the efforts to slow down climate change. In total, there were 112 setbacks, 98 being complete and 14 pending when he left the office.
