Iowa Floods -Ramsey Huggins
Believe it or not Iowa is actually is a major producer of food for not only the United States but the whole world. They have a surplus of food resources and they create a backbone for many places around the country the rely on this food. Throughout the past few decades we have seen an incline in the amount of floods occuring. The overall moisture has risen dramatically and this is mainly if not all due to climate change and the effect that it brings. The rising temperatures have started to cause more evaporation in the Gulf of Mexico which means more fuel for the atmosphere and the storms that it brings. A lot of this moisture comes own on Iowa. Iowa has now seen 2 major floods this century and many other minor but still devastating ones as well. Other reasons that these floods are occurring more and more is because of the snow in the surrounding states melting more and more also due to the rising temperature. Iowa cannot take any more floods like this especially in such short increments. In conclusion we can trace all of these flooding issues back to climate change. This really shows how dramatic these effects can be, and how fast they can set in.
